As the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, Rosenblum traces how trauma has been passed through her paternal line over generations. Understanding intergenerational trauma as lodged in our bodies and bequeathed to us through our very DNA, this new series of work quite literally unravels the bind of trauma – investigating the healing power of movement and artmaking.

Informed by the field of epigenetics, Rosenblum has generated an immersive, multi-modal installation that both poses and answers the questions; Can the body unravel itself from generational trauma? Does trauma shape a person’s being?

Concepts of movement, release and deep listening are discussed through Rosenblum’s approach to expanded photography. Bringing together archival images, photographic etching, sound, video, and collage Collateral Veins disrupts the cycle of trauma – untangling it, breaking its cyclic nature, and providing a space to reflect and heal.
